Melissa Ricks Not Yet Ready to Work with Jake Cuenca

Five months after their much-publicized breakup, actress Melissa Ricks said she has already moved on from her past relationship with actor Jake Cuenca.

Speaking to Push.com.ph during the ABS-CBN Trade Launch last September 1, Ricks said she is not the type of person who holds grudges against someone.

“Hindi ako ‘yung taong parang I would talk bad about someone. Hindi ako ‘yung ganoong tao pero ang sa akin lang ‘yung respetong ibinibigay ko sa ‘yo ibigay mo rin sa akin,” she said.

Although she is open to being friends with Cuenca again, Ricks stressed it is not anymore up to her.

“It’s up to him naman, it’s not up to me. I’m fine with everybody. I have nothing against whoever he dates. If he wants to be happy it does not have to be with me. Malay mo hindi naman kami meant to be. Basta he’s happy and may respeto siya sa akin dahil may pinagsamahan naman kami ng dalawang taon,” she said.

Ricks, however, maintained she is not yet ready to work with Cuenca again.

“Right now, I don’t think that would be such a good idea, pero in the future, why not? We can never say pero right now, parang hindi siya magandang idea,” the actress explained.

According to Ricks, her past relationship with Cuenca taught her a lot of things. She said it even made her stronger.

“Alam mo ‘yung kaya kong pagdaanan ‘yan with my friends with me na hindi talaga ako iniiwan. Sobrang it helped me to be okay and it took me a long time rin to be okay pero I think I can say I’m better now,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ricks called on the public not to drag actress Lovi Poe’s name in the picture.

“I hope huwag naman nilang isali si Lovi dito. I’ve never met her pero people tell me she’s a nice girl, so huwag na lang natin siyang isali sa tsismis,” she said.

Poe was Cuenca’s date in the recently concluded Star Magic Ball.

Jake Cuenca Stars as Gay on MMK

Actor Jake Cuenca has taken on his first gay role for the upcoming episode of the Philippine television's longest-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”



Cuenca said it was a challenging role, and that he actually took the extra mile to give justice to the character.



“I was scared. I didn’t know if I could pull it off, but thanks to the letter-sender nandoon siya so mas napadali ‘yung trabaho namin ‘don,” he said during an interview with "TV Patrol" on Thursday.



Together with Cuenca in this project are veteran actors Ricky Davao and Vivian Velez.



Impressed with Cuenca’s acting prowess, Velez was all praises for him.



She said, “It’s a delicate role, and na-balance niya. Ang galing ni Jake.”



In this particular “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode, Cuenca will be playing the life story of a Filipino transgender in Spain.



This project was shot in Barcelona.

Melissa Ricks Jealous Over Jake Cuenca's Star Magic Ball Date

Actress Melissa Ricks has reacted on her ex-boyfriend Jake Cuenca's plan to bring a date in the upcoming Star Magic ball.



"Kung gusto niya magdala ng iba, wala na ako dun. It's his choice to bring somebody else," she said.



However, she added, "Basta ako hindi ako pupunta na may kasama kasi ayaw ko na may masaktan."



Unlike Cuenca, Ricks said she has no plans to bring a date in this year's Star Magic ball.



She said she'd rather enjoy the company of all her showbiz friends who will be attending the event.



"Ako, I'd rather go by myself," she reiterated.



Ricks told ABS-CBN’s "Showbiz News Ngayon" on Friday that Cuenca has already informed her about his intention to bring Lovi Poe as his plus-one for the upcoming event.



When asked about her initial reaction about it, she nonchalantly said, "Wala."



According to Ricks, she just wants to push all the controversies between her and Cuenca aside.



"Ayaw ko na may controversy pa dahil tapos na 'yung tsismis, so 'wag na nating dagdagan," she said.

Jake Cuenca to Do a Teleserye With Shaina Magdayao

Busy man sa paggawa ng pelikula, hindi rin nawawalan ng project si Jake Cuenca sa telebisyon.



“May gagawin akong soap starting next month sa ABS-CBN. Kasama ko si Shaina Magdayao.”



Pang-primetime ba ito o sa afternoon slot?



“Hindi ko pa pwedeng idetalye e. Ang ABS ang nakakaalam kung sa primetime ba ito o sa hapon. Ako kahit saan mo ilagay yan, basta maganda ang project, gagawin ko.”

Jake Cuenca Asks Lovi Poe to be his Date on Star Magic Ball

Kapamilya actor Jake Cuenca will have Kapuso actress Lovi Poe as date at the Star Magic Ball in September.



“Opo, napagusapan na po namin at nagkataon naman na libre siya nung araw na yon so…” he confirmed shyly at the press conference for Regal Entertainment Inc.’s “My Neighbor’s Wife.”



Asked if she hesitated accepting the offer considering that she will likely be the only GMA-7 talent at the ball, Lovi, who was seated beside Jake at the presidential table, said, “Of course, ninenerbyos po ako---”



“ Akong bahala sa yo. Wala kang dapat alalahanin,” Jake interrupted, giving Lovi a reassuring look.



“---oo nga, bahala na si Jake magentertain sa kin don,” she said, nodding.



Both Jake and Lovi are rumored to have come from breakups: he with Melissa Ricks, she with Ronald Singson. Though neither of the two admitted to the rumors, except to say they were “exclusively dating,” either relationship---whatever kind it was--- has gone south.



As for Star Magic Ball, it is a yearly event that though not exclusive to ABS-CBN talents as other Kapamilya stars have brought “outsiders” as date in the past, bringing in someone from GMA-7 (a rival station) is almost unheard of.



Yet Jake is unperturbed.



“Ipinaalam ko naman ang paginvite ko kay Lovi,” he quipped.



Then again, no one should be surprised if they want to know more about each other following working on “My Neighbor’s Wife.” According to whispers, the intimate scenes that Lovi and Jake shared in the steamy, sexy film can’t possibly have been “just acting.” It is said that one time, Lovi and Jake lay down in bed even after the cameras have stopped rolling



“Wala, may iba lang ni-shoot from another angle kaya we stayed,” Jake explained.



“My Neighbor’s Wife” opens in theater on Sept. 14. Apart from Lovi and Jake, the cast includes Dennis Trillo and Carla Abellana under the direction of Jun Lana.



“My Neighbor’s Wife” mall tours will be on Aug. 27 at Market Market; Aug. 28 at SM San Lazaro; Sept. 4 at Robinson’s Dasmarinas; and Sept. 10 at SM Bicutan

Ang latest movie ni Jake Cuenca ay ang My Neighbor’s Wife produced by Regal Entertainment.



Kasama niya rito sina Dennis Trillo, Carla Abellana at Lovi Poe. Directed by Jun Lana, ang My Neighbor’s Wife ay ipalalabas na sa mga sinehan simula sa September 14.



“Para sa akin dapat talagang mapanood itong pelikula na ito, kasi itong combination na ito, itong tambalang ito, minsan lang iyan e. Noong inalok sa akin ito, sabi ko, bihira lang makarating sa akin yung ganitong oportunidad na maidirek ni Jun Lana, na taga-Channel 7.



“Tapos makatrabaho ko ang pinakamaiinit na mga artista ng GMA-7. Kaya sana, panoorin at suportahan ito ng mga tao.”



Ayon kay Jake, ang pelikulang ito ang pinaka-daring at pinaka-sexy na nagawa niya.



“Oo, very daring yung movie. To tell you honestly, yung mga love scene na nagawa na namin, ito talaga yung pinaka-daring na nagawa ko.



“Na-challenge kami kay Direk na gawing natural at totoo, na maging professional sa set pagdating sa mga love scene namin.



“Alam mo, sa totoo lang, walang ilangan, talagang priority namin ni Dennis na alagaan yung leading ladies namin, na protektahan sila. At yung leading ladies namin, ang sarap katrabaho dahil madali naming natatapos ang mga eksena.”



Totoo bang may butt exposure daw siya sa movie?



“Iyan ang abangan n’yo!” natatawang sabi ni Jake.

Jake Cuenca Reveals Next Projects

Fresh from his vacation abroad, Actor Jake Cuenca bared his new projects in ABS-CBN.

"I'm [sic] gonna be leaving next month. Magte-taping kami ng bagong soap opera. At saka na-enjoy ko talaga 'yung period na nagpahinga. Itong time off, na-enjoy ko talaga," he told ABS-CBN News.

He added that he will also be part of "Maalala Mo Kaya" as the show celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Cuenca's last television series was "Green Rose" with Anne Curtis and Jericho Rosales, which aired its last episode on May 27. His last movie project, "In the Name of Love" with Angel Locsin and Aga Muhlach, also premiered during the said month.

The actor denied rumors that he is depressed about not having a regular show in ABS-CBN in the past months.

"No, of course not," he said, adding, "It doesn't make sense to be depressed. There's no reason to be depressed at all."

Asked about actress Melissa Ricks, his former sweetheart, Cuenca said, "Mayroon na kaming napag-usapan ni Mel na kung ano man [ang] relationship [namin] noon, kung ano man [ang] pinagdadaanan [namin] ngayon, amin na lang 'yun. Para sa amin, may napag-usapan na kami na we just don't talk about it on TV anymore."

"We're both moving on in life."

Single and not dating anyone, Cuenca said he wants to focus on his career.
