Daniel Padilla on Growing Up

Daniel Padilla gets his big break in showbiz as leading man of Kathryn Bernardo in the upcoming teen-oriented drama Growing Up. During the press conference for the show set to air this September 4, he shared how he is pleased to be paired with Kathryn. “Ako dito si Patrick, ang heartthrob na may pagka-bad boy. Ka-love team ko dito si Kathryn. Makikita niyo ‘yung parang aso’t pusa naming away. Nakakatuwa si Kath kasi maganda, mabait, magaling pa. Madali siyang ka trabaho. Approachable siya. Pwede mong makausap nang seryoso kahit kayong dalawa lang. Pero kengkoy din katulad ko.”



The sixteen year-old is the son of actors Rommel Padilla and Karla Estrada. Daniel shared that watching the old films of his parents inspired him to give showbiz a try. “Gusto ko talaga mag-showbiz. Natutuwa kasi ako kapag napapanood ko ‘yung mga dating pelikula nina mama at papa. Para gusto ko ring subukan. Napanood ko ‘yung pelikula ni mama na Kakaibang Karisma. Kinilabutan lang ako kasi siyempre nanay mo ‘yung nakikita mong nagpapa-sexy. Kay papa naman, nakalimutan ko ‘yung title pero ‘yung kwento e nasa bilangguan siya. Gusto ko ‘yung pelikula niya na ‘yun.”



During the press conference of Growing Up, reporters were surprised when Daniel admitted that he already had three girlfriends. Hence he was likened to his father and the other men in the Padilla showbiz clan who have the reputation of being playboys. But Daniel explained, “Si papa naman at ‘yung mga tito ko hindi naman sila babaero. Nagkakataon lang na nauuwi sa hiwalayan ‘yung mga relationships nila kaya nakarami sila ng nakarelasyon, inisip ng mga tao babaero nga sila. Pero ang mga Padilla tapat ‘yan magmahal.”



The young Padilla admitted that he sometimes gets sad whenever anyone in the clan would be reported to have troubles with the law, like his uncle Royette Padilla who recently faced mauling charges filed by his own wife. “Naapektuhan din ako. Siyempre nababalitaan mo na kung ano ano ‘yung nasasabi tungkol sa kamaganak mo. Bilang kapamilya masakit din ‘yun. Pero mas pinaniniwalaan ko ‘yung sinasabi nila kaysa sa mga nababalita.”



Though he belongs to a big clan, Daniel said that he is close to most of his cousins particularly to the children of his uncle Robin. “Every Sunday may training kami sa bahay ni Tito Robin. Nag-train kami ng parkour and martial arts. Kasama ko ‘yung iba kong mga kapatid, nakakasama namin sina Queenie. Si Kylie madalang kasi busy. ‘Yung mga anak din ni Tito Royette.”

Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes Talks About Being Famous

Sa kanilang murang edad, natamo na nina Kathryn Bernardo at Julia Montes ang kasikatan and at the same time, ang pagkakaroon ng responsibilidad. Halimbawa, maituturing na breadwinners ang dalawa sa kanilang pamilya at malaking responsibilidad din ang pagiging magandang ehemplo sa mga kabataan. Gayunpaman, very positive ang pananaw ng dalawa sa kabila ng mabibigat na responsibilidad.



“Nakakalabas [ako] pero ‘yung party kasi hindi rin ako ma-party na tao,” kuwento ni Kathryn. “So para sa akin nage-enjoy din naman ako kasi kailangan mag-sacrifice ka rin po nang konti dahil sa pagiging successful. Okay lang naman po sa akin ‘yung kapalit dahil sobrang worth it po naman.”



Sabi pa ng dalaga, maituturing na swerte sila ni Julia dahil sa kanilang murang edad ay kumikita na sila. “Naiisip ko na lang sa positive side. Ako nakakaipon na ganito pa lang ako ang bata, so para sa akin mas swerte ako kumpara sa ibang bata.”



Katuparan naman ito ng pangarap para kay Julia na sa murang edad pa lang ay namulat na kailangan niyang magtrabaho para makatulong sa pamilya. “Bata pa lang talaga ako, Goin’ Bulilit pa lang tumutulong na ako,” kuwento ng young actress. “At 9 years old naisip ko na talaga na kailangan kong tumulong sa kanila. Hanggang paglaki ko na-mindset ko na more on family talaga. Siguro may mga times din na napapaisip na what if ako yung typical teenager? Pero ‘yun nga iba rin kasi na nakapag-ipon na rin. Nage-enjoy rin kami sa trabaho namin, passion din namin ito.”



Samantala, hindi naman pressured ang dalawa na sila ang magdadala ng upcoming teen show na Growing Up. Anila, hindi nila kailangang magpadala sa pressure at ang mahalaga lang ay gawin nila ang best nila. “Hindi naman po siguro kaming dalawa lang ang magdadala,” ani Julia. “Siguro po may pressure kasi siyempre ang tagal na rin ng itinakbo ng kabila naming kalaban and siguro ano na lang talaga ‘yung best lang po namin at ‘yung natural na maibibigay namin na magbabarkada, siguro ‘yun ang edge namin.”



Ayon naman kay Kathryn, sama-sama naman sila ng kanilang mga co-stars sa pagdadala ng show at umaasang mas makikilala rin ang kanilang mga kasama sa Growing Up.

EJ Jallorina on Growing Up

"Growing Up!" star EJ Jallorina downplayed speculations that he is gay.



Jallorina told abs-cbnNEWS.com that he's aware of the rumors but just takes it positively.



He even said that it's an honor for him to be questioned if he is straight or not because it only means that he's really good in portraying gay characters.



"I'm straight po. Kapag nakakarinig po ako ng mga taong nagsasabi o nagtatanong noon ay napakalaking honor po at least somehow ay nagiging curious sila kung ako po ang character ko, which I think nagpapakita po ng effectiveness ko po as an artista," Jallorina said.



Jallorina first started doing gay characters in ABS-CBN's children's show "Goin' Bulilit.'



He was also part of the gay film "Manay Po 2."



Jallorina snatched limelight anew in Kapamilya's remake of "Mara Clara."



Currently, Jallorina is part of ABS-CBN's teenage show "Growing Up!" with Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes as lead stars.

Is Kathryn Bernardo Ready to Go Solo?

Is "Mara Clara" star Kathryn Bernardo ready to do solo projects?



Not just yet, says the young actress who is now taping her new show "Growing Up" with her Mara Clara co-star Julia Montes.



"Kung may nabalita na pong ganoon, kasi po wala pa po kaming next project sa primetime kasi kakatapos lang ng Mara Clara. Ngayon as long as magkasama kami sa Growing Up pati sa cover ng magazine, sa endorsement masaya kami doon," Bernardo told abs-cbnNEWS.com.



Bernardo said there will come a time when she and Montes will have to do separate projects. For now, she is grateful for the opportunity to do another TV series with Montes.



"Malungkot siyempre darating ang point ng ganoon nga pero, yun basta sa desisyon po ng management, sa tingin namin sa ikabubuti namin yon," she said.



"Growing Up," Kapamilya's newest teen show, also stars Daniel Padilla and Diego Loyzaga.



Also part of cast are Yen Santos, EJ Jallorina, Neil Coleta, and Kiray Celis.

Diego Loyzaga on Growing Up

Just two months after Diego Loyzaga joined show business, he already has a phenomenally popular teleserye (Mara Clara) under his belt. Now, he’s working on another TV project with his Mara Clara co-stars Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes entitled Growing Up (This Is My Life). “I am very honored to be able to work with them again. Siyempre alam naman natin kung gaano sila sinuportahan ng viewers noon sa Mara Clara. Nagpapasalamat ako sa ABS-CBN at Star Magic. I couldn’t have been in a better position. I’m very lucky na sila ang makakatrabaho ko ulit. And hopefully mas matagal ang bonding namin dito,” he said in an interview.

Although he’s good friends with both young actresses, Diego shared that he talks more often with Kathryn since they used to be schoolmates in OB Montessori at Greenhills. “They’re both my friends. It’s just that mas kilala ko si Kathryn. Kasi at school, they always talk about her. People would always ask me, ‘Diego, kamusta na si Kathryn? Is she still going to study?’ Ako naman, ‘Wow! Ite-text ko ba siya?’ Sasabihin ko, ‘Ma’am, pa-CR,’ tapos itetext ko sa kanya na, ‘Ikaw na naman ang pinag-uusapan sa classroom ko.’ Yung mga ganong kulitan lang. Kami rin ni Julia we talk kapag magkikita kami sa mga thanksgiving parties ng Mara Clara noon.”

Diego said that he has no trouble adjusting to Julia as his ka-love team in Growing Up since she has always been a helpful co-star even during their Mara Clara days. “Sobrang bait niya. Nung bago pa lang ako sa Mara Clara hanggang ngayon, kapag may problema ako sa acting or hindi ko masabi yung Tagalog lines ko, tumutulong silang dalawa ni Kathryn. Actually lahat naman ng co-stars namin ganon. Siyempre nung una, my friends would ask me, ‘Maganda ba siya?’ Siyempre maganda naman talaga si Julia in person. And of course, she has a totally different character in real life. Kasi some would think that just because she played Clara on TV, she also behaves the same way off cam, pero hindi ganon. Pareho silang mabait ni Kathryn.”

The 16-year-old refused to say though who between Kathryn and Julia is more attractive for him. But when asked to describe his ideal girl, Diego admitted that he likes morena girls. “Kasi ‘di ba ang typical na Pinoy gusto maputi tsaka long hair. Everyday nakikita ko ‘yan sa Australia e dahil dun ako lumaki. Dito sa Manila, siyempre gusto ko naman yung Pinay. Pero wala akong sinabing pangalan ha, ’yan lang ang sagot ko,” Diego added with a laugh.”
